QUICK Q: getting enduser location on the fly?

Is it possible to get a users location when they visit my website. is there some other piece of code similar to how ip addres is obtained.

yeah, you can type

$ip = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];

to get the visitors ip address. Then, you can get a county/city by using a geoip service such as the one from www.maxmind.com. php.net uses this to control which mirror visitors are directed too, but i can't remember the one they use (although it is free!)

You might want to try IP2Location for complete geolocation database.

It tells me i am in Oxford When i am actully about 400 miles north of there lol
