Please help me with dumpfile sql

I have a backup of a mysqlfile, and would like to use it. How on earth do I use it again, and what do I write in the mysql prompt?

when I use source, it just starts beeping like mad. I have to say its not my database, but Im using in order for me to create a reservation system. see my other post. Please help.

Did you select the database to use?

Example:

create database mydatabase;
use mydatabase;
source mydatabase_backup.sql;

Should work.
