any oscommerce users? advice needed

Hi, i'm about to start playing with my first attempt at an oscommerce shop, one of the fundamental things i want to look into is the capacity to change the appearance of the store. I have seen a few templating systems out there but there isnt much real feedback on any of them. Would appreciate any input from people that have successfully (or unsuccessfully) used some of these templating systems with regard to ease of implementation and more importantly stability.

You could try xt-commerce which was originally based on oscommerce but has become its own product. It uses the smarty template system which is highly flexible.

The only downside is that it's a German product, so the English documentation may not be so good.
