im running a huge loop- the file input is so big that the loop keeps going til the server times out, yet im wanting it to also output to a file. i guess i only have 30 seconds of time to execute the script (cant change that) heh.
have you guys ever had to get around this?

i was thinking that i'd use 'append' on the file - and somehow redirect the page so it picks up on the next page heh.. but also hoping theres a better way.

[man]sleep[/man] or [man]usleep[/man] along with [man]set_time_limit[/man] may be of use to you. Also, look into [man]ini_set[/man]. (Specifically, the max_execution_time option.)

Keep in mind that server timeout settings override those of PHP... so if Apache only allows for 60 seconds then it doesnt matter how you configure your script or even PHP itself.
I fought with a similar problem at work for about a month before anyone would listen.
