Question about sending variables.

Hi,
I am building a rating system and I am currently using 5 images for the rater. I have it so that the code on the button says:

a href="voted.php?vote=3&songid=$songid"

What I need to know is how I would code it so that there is an if(isset) statement so that people couldnt just refresh the voted.php page to rerun the script.

Maybe this will work:

session_start();

if(isset($_SESSION['voted']))
{

echo "You have already voted. Oops!";

}else{

$_SESSION['voted'] = 1;

}

Alternatively, you could try using cookies, so the user won't be able to vote again once he closes and opens up his browser.

Off course, you could also store your users ip in a database as a sign that they've already voted. This would keep other users with the same ip from voting, but prevents the user from deleting his cookies and voting again.
