[Resolved] Help needed, its going to be easy 4u

Hi all

I am a complete newby to PHP.

I am trying to get cracking with an online diary from ikemcg

I need to however change the config.php.

Does anybody know how to do this as at the minute i havent got a clue.

Open "config.php" in your editor, then, for each of these:

define("DB_NAME", "");				// db name
define("DB_USER", "");				// db username
define("DB_PASS", "");				// db password
define("DB_HOST", "localhost");			// db server

put the appropriate things inside the empty quote marks. Leave everything else as is for now. Then save "config.php" back to disk and you should be set.

I have just gone onto the next instruction and it states that i should

"In a browser, go to the URL for the createtables.php file, included in the distribution. This step creates the database tables, and give you a link to the calendar if successful."

When i open my files that i have uploaded and then go to the "createtables.php" file it says the following

Warning: main(): Unable to access ./lang/lang.admin.en.php in /home/jail/home/free-users/b/bensdisco2003/phpEventCalendar/createtables.php on line 3

Warning: main(./lang/lang.admin.en.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/jail/home/free-users/b/bensdisco2003/phpEventCalendar/createtables.php on line 3

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required './lang/lang.admin.en.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/jail/home/free-users/b/bensdisco2003/phpEventCalendar/createtables.php on line 3

If I am honest then i have not got a clue what that means.

If anybody can help it would be great

The first error likely causes the next two. I found this on the script forum:

Q. [Pretty much the same as yours.]

A. I had the same problem. I created a "lang" subdirectory and move the lang.admin.en.php file into it. That made it happy

That makes sense about the first error causing the second and the third.

The problem that I have got is that I cannot upload the

lang.admin.en.php file

onto my server, when i try and upload it i cannot because

lang.admin.en.php file contains invalid characteurs

Are you making sure to upload everything in ascii mode, and not binary?
