Can you precede an auto increment id?

I would like to know if you can precede an id number?

I.e. when an entry goes into the db the $id is entered as 106437

the next entry is 106487 and so on?

However there will only be 2 entries in the database?

Any help would be good

huh??? what's the pattern here? the first ID is 106437 then the next is 106487? so the IDs are 50 apart? what are you trying to do here?

sorry I meant start at 106437 the next one would be 106438

But I think I just need to create the first entry, then amend the id to be 106437, so that the next entry will then add the $id to be 106438
