how can make my site muti-language support.

Hi all,
I have done full coding of my site, but there is one more requirement from client side "Multi-Language Support".

I want make it multi-language.

A. I have one idea.

Store all captions and messages in associative array with appropriate key and value and construct that language-variable array as per the selected language.
Call function - that will return value for appropriate key.
---

B. But I dont know what client requirment. I think he want whole site in japanese (including the user profile details and data edited by that particular user, please assume that user will enter the appropriate data in database...)

Can any one will guide me or redirect me on good resources for getting complete above both task.

Firstly before diving in the deep end why not ask your client what language you wish to support as it sounds you havent really yet got into that area.

Anyway since ive never written one your best to look at the ones that have like PHPBB i believe they have something like that. Usually a few variables in arrays for certain phrases or words (common ones by the way) should be used.

Hi planetsim,

What is the idea from client is - make whole site japanese.
Means all caption and the data entered by user. What I think, I can stored the data in mysql in flat format(What is entered by user.) and when showing that data will display again in flat format will just set the char-set and lang in html header.

And all required caption will took from predefined associate array.

I am just worry about the data... which user will entered in database. How can user will entered that data. There are some keyword to enter data in japanese format.

Please help me for doing this.... any article which will explain in detail about the multi-linguagal.

I just have to submit the primary document about this task.

Firstly if your gonna be getting user input its going to be impossible to keep it to a certain language my site has a commenting system and I have had some comments that have been in another LOTE and most have been ok except a few of course

Anyway my point being because the site is in Japanese you will find many english speaks other people other than japanese speakers will leave the site.

Like i said you will have a hard time keeping it completely Japanese i think you should tell your client that even using a multi-language system.
