an SMTP app like sendmail, qmail, postfix. you may already have one setup if you a UNIX variant. for Windows, i assume IIS has some integrated SMTP functionality. i also believe you can specify any mail server you want in your php.ini. once that is set up then simply use the [man]mail[/man] function.
