movie ratings

Working on a movie ratings site that has rating values from 0.5 to 5.0.

I average out the ratings for a particular movie and I'm stuck on how to get the aveage rounded off so it ends in either a .5 or a .0. to loop though showing either a full star or a half star.

I'm assuming by 0.5 to 5 you mean .5 is half star and 5 is 5 stars? How about storing them as 1-10 then. 1 is half star. 10 is 5 stars.
