dc means domain component.
So, a UID might look like this:
dn=gsm1234,dc=com,dc=phpbuilder
for a user on this site who's id was gsm1234.
I'll be on vacation through this Thursday, but feel free to private message me here, or send me an email through this site, and I'll try to get back to ya and help you out. LDAP is NOT relational, but hierarchichal, which is quite different and takes some getting used to.
Also, Note's LDAP implementation is mostly broken, but you can use it some if you try really hard. Look for gqldap on linux for a nice ldap browser. Once you figure out the base dn of the domino / notes server, you can usually browse it with gqldap.
