Should i use this sytem for Apache/PHP/MySQL???

Hello all,

Is a Pentium II machine capable of handling the Apache/PHP/MySQL platform? I have access to several PII machines and possibly some PIII machines and want to know if i should really push for getting the PIII's. Also how much RAM is recommended? OS? Periferrals???? Help!!!

I've run Linux/Apache/PHP/MySQL on some old PI's before. Of course that was when RedHat was still in the 6.x days.

I always push for the better system. However I suspect you'll be ok with the PII, unless your scripts require a lot of processor power.

Im a newby so i dont suspect that ill be writing intense scripts anytime soon. I really just want to set this server up as an experimentational platform.

I ran RedHat 7.3 with apache, mysql, php, etc on a PII (200Mhz)and it worked fine. I even had some pretty complicated code/queries going. The only times I noticed a slowdown was when I communicatiing with festival (a speech synthesis engine/server).
