[Resolved] How to stop timeouts?

I have a script that executes lots of MySQL queries (thousands).

The trouble is... the page keeps timing out.

Does anyone know a way to stop the pages from timing out?

(I'm not a webhost and therefore don't have access to the php.ini so changing that is not an option for me, unfortunately)

...incidentally, just a few minutes ago I had an idea for another little method that I thought up and that was to wait until 50 commands have been sent and then to do a header redirect to another page that then bounces the countnumber back to the first page. Know what I mean?

Anyway... if it worked this would be a better way of doing it (I think) because I wouldn't have to worry about Apache timeouts or Internet Explorer time outs. Indeed, I wouldn't have to worry about timeouts at all.

I was just thinking... what do you think of my theory? Do you think it could work?

(So far I have sucessfully got it bouncing between the two pages in a loop, however, I am having reading the variables from the URL)

Could work. I'd put it through some thorough testing first. If there's a high load on the server, it still could be open to timeouts. As far as the variables, you may want to look at sessions instead.

So far, initial tests indicate that it does not read variables that are passed via the URL (when bouncing from one page to the other).

I'll try out your idea and use session variables instead. I hope it works.

I can confirm that using session variables does not work either when doing multiple page bouncing.
