PHP and microsoft word

I have lots of data in a database which I need to Microsoft Word format. It's easy enough to save it in .txt files, but has anyone worked with word files?

i doubt you'll be able to get to MSWord directly. there was a post around here recently about MSWord being a secret format that microsoft doesn't want to share.

RTF, however, might be an option. it's basically the MSWord format but more general...different versions of word can all read it.
