Counting with PHP

Ok, I KNOW there is a function for this but for the life of me can't remember it.

Here is what I am trying to do:

I want to list all values between 1 and 5000. WITHOUT using a for statement. There was some function where you put in like functionname (1,500); or something like that. But damnit I can't find it. If you know pass it along. Thanks!
