Avoiding spam filters using mail()

I have a problem with a script that I'm working on. My spam filter (Spamnix) seems to judge all the mails sent from the system as junk mail.

I am of course nervous that other filters will react the same way.

I have tried different combinations of header info, to, from and reply-to addresses - and the mail just contains plain (and meaningful) text and a couple of links.

Are there any particular issues that I should consider in order to avoid this problem?

The mails are sent out as a part of a post card system.

The reciever gets one much like it, just with a different text of course - and a different to address and the sender's address as the reply-to address.

I would try to imitate outlook or email client similar, a good idea is to send an email using outlook and check out the headers.

If you view the full headers you will see that it shows that php sent the email.

Imitating anything - like Outlook - usually really ignites the spam filters. Anything that looks suspicious will stir them.

My experience is, that the more the mail looks like what it really is: sent from an "honest" automated system - the better.

I have made dozens of these systems before, including e-mail newsletters, confirmation, password reminders etc. but never had this problem before.

For some reason this particular setup trips the wire.
