Xampp and MYSQL?

Hello, i have installed XAmpp from the advice of someone on here and it looks and seems fine but i am having one major problem.

With MYSQL when i load mysql.exe and it goes into comman prompt i am logged in as OBDC@localhost and i can only see test when i select show databases;

When i am in PHPmyadmin i can see MYSQL, test and other databases.

I believe this is because when im in command prompt i havent got permission to see other databases?.

I can see root is set up, i have also set up admin account in mysql - user and gave Y for everything, how can i log into mysql.exe as root or admin as it seems OBDC or whatever is says is default.

I selected any to have management privalages and it works fine now.

I still have same problem as i have always had

Warning: mysql_connect(): Unknown MySQL Server Host 'bloomdb' (11001) in

No matter what i try it will not work, im close to giving up hope :bemused:

Can someone please save me from despair
