variables passed thru the URL

I am passing a variable to a new page via the URL.. It is the members username. I know it passes over to the new page cuz when I was trouble shooting, it prints out $username. But now I want to store data into a different DB table using that $username. When I check the table, all data goes in but the Username column is blank. Is there anything special I need to do? I don't know why its coming up blank. I look at the Insert line and its correct. Thanks

Passing the variable to the new page wasnt the problem. The problem came about with the "action" url of the form on the new page. I did not pass the $username variable with in it and it disappeared when I hit submit. The things we learn when we stare at a script for 3hrs!!!
