I have a date in my database that is yyyy-mm-dd. I want to take that date and convert it to unix style so that I can easily extract day of the week and gregorian date (I think that's what it's called). Anyway, like Monday, Nov. 23, 2004. Does anyone know a down and dirty way to do that? There's probably already a post out there to do it and when I get back from my dr. appt, I'll do a better search, but for now, I'm just asking. Nothing popped out at me when I searched just now.
