&variable in URL string problem...

Hi, hoping somone can help me with this one...

If you take a look at :

http://www.idevspot.com/index.php?include_file=product_detail.php&id=1

The page will display without problem,

However, if you visit

http://www.idevspot.com/index.php?include_file=product_detail.php&a m p;id=1

The page will not show - (this forum is reformating that URL so I put spaces between a m p)

Now, my application is listed on hotscripts & hotscripts is replacing &id=1 with &a m p;id=1

....

What can I do?

Note: Be careful about variables that may match HTML entities. Things like &amp, &copy and &pound are parsed by the browser and the actual entity is used instead of the desired variable name. This is an obvious hassle that the W3C has been telling people about for years. The reference is here: http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/appendix/notes.html#h-B.2.2 PHP supports changing the argument separator to the W3C-suggested semi-colon through the arg_separator .ini directive. Unfortunately most user agents do not send form data in this semi-colon separated format. A more portable way around this is to use & instead of & as the separator. You don't need to change PHP's arg_separator for this. Leave it as &, but simply encode your URLs using htmlentities(urlencode($data)).

Hmm..
not having luck,

&variable works fine..
& amp ;variable does not...

tried the series of urlencode & htmlentities .. wont pick up the variable data in & amp ;

...

any more insight?

as per the suggestion in that manual excerpt, did you check your arg_separator directive in your php.ini?

Hmm - so, (and thanks for the help)...

How to make this work?

ini_set('arg_separator.output','&');
ini_set('arg_separator.input','&');

?.. i am missing the idea here
