Sending Emails? Best solution?

Hello,

I've recently had a problem with the simple mail functions in PHP not ALWAYS sending some required emails from our site.

I was wondering what the best UNIX server based email solution is best, and most reliable for sending emails to users of the website.

Any / All suggestions greatly appreciated.
