PR Newswire has provided a European news feed since June 2000. The enhanced news feed format has been developed through consultation with our feed clients and aims to meet their core requirements, namely;
• The feed should be delivered in a well formed Extensible Markup Language (xml) format
• PR Newswire should be able to filter the feed to ensure that clients receive only the content most relevant to their business operation.
• PR Newswire should be able to deliver, where possible, over variety of media.
1.3 PRNE implementation of the News Industry Text Format (NITF)
News Industry Text Format (NITF) is a news based xml standard developed by the International Press Telecommunications Council (IPTC). For further information and the Document Type Definition (DTD) see www.nitf.org
PR Newswire have adopted News Industry Text Format (NITF) as it’s standard feed format. This format allows for the richer meta-tagging of PR Newswire releases. The document shows the tags adopted from the NITF DTD with a description of the PR Newswire intended use.
