Creating a forum with phpbb!

Hi there,
I'd like to create a forum!
I have a slight problem though.
I don't know php :bemused:
I downloaded phpbb and I'm a bit lost!
I know html and have dreamweaver.

I can't open any files though.
I just see blank screens.
I can see the source code though!

Can anyone suggest what I need/should do to get started?
In reality can I create a forum with my lack of knowledge!
Or will I have to devote a lot of time learning about php?

you'll need to install php and have a webserver running in order to run any php apps.

For those that dont know PHP too well an option is to install everything at once by using the apachefriends module. It self configures and is pretty easy to use for those without much experience.

If you are trying to open the php files and cant see anything you may need to check your associations or use an editor that views PHP files.

If you have an editor like Zend or Scite you should be able to open the editor and browse to the files and open them that way.

If you already have a server that you want to install the stuff on, it must have php installed. Go <a href="http://www.phpbb.com/support/tutorials/">to phpbb tutorials</a> to learn how to install the forums. It's pretty easy. They also have forums for you to ask specific questions.
