Making dynamic pages look static without mod_rewrite

I have a shopping site PHP/MySQL my host have NOT enabled mod_rewrite, so I
am to achieve this by an article that I found at
http://www.phpcafe.net/index.php/pg/tutorials/lang/1/skin/1/CODE/02/id/5

I managed to get the result of
http://www.domain.com/user/details.php/VehicleId/1526 instead of
http://www.domain.com/user/details.php?VehicleId=1526 by adding the
following codes in to my PHP files:

    $c = 0; 

foreach(explode("/",$_SERVER['PATH_INFO']) as $bit)    { 
    if ($bit != "") { 
        if($bit == "index.php") { 
            continue; 
        } 

        if ($c == 0) {

        }

            $c = 0; 
            $_GET[$tmp]    =    $bit; 
            $tmp        =    ""; 
        } 
    } 
} 
}

However, I am failing to get the result of for
http://www.domain.com/user/details.php?VehicleId=1526&currency_id=2

Any help please?

Because I can't read the url that is causing you problems very well, I am not sure if I understand your question correctly.

Although I guess your problem is that you want to have it the 'old school dynamic way' and the 'look like static way' as well.

If so, you can first look for a questionmark in the $_SERVER['PATH_INFO'] - your re-written url will not have that.

index.php?bla=1&id=2 (has questionmark)

index.php/bla/1/id/2 (does not have questionmark)

If not so, don't mess with the $_GET array, because all the info you need is in there.
