form option values

I've noticed that many form option values, which are Inserted for options on a drop menu, ex; 10,000 - 50,000

-are five digit slong equences. ex: option value " 25998"

Why is this? why not simply a "2" or a "5"?

Option values are usually the rowid, corresponding to a column value, right?
Are they for some reason starting their rows in the 25000's?

Is it to achieve a certain numerical sequence for Inserting as an array?

With names like name="P1906661713" -- this used to parse back out into different dimensions?

Who knows? Depends entirely on the application. Why do bank account numbers have sixteen digits? It's not like there are going to be ten million billion accounts.

Could you recommend a good tutorial to walk me through some of the finer points of doing form Inserts?

I have some complex forms to work with and I'm trying to get a handle on b[/b] inserting as a value to be called back by a regexp vs. inserting as a row id -- I'd need a four to five way join to echo values back by rowid b [/b]storing as an array (csv or seperated by spaces) into a column & calling back array values & whether array values are searchable by SELECT statement with '=' /b[/b] Updating col array values ) One possible complication with arrays in a single column I see is that one number can be confused with the next when they are originating from seperate tables -- maybe that's why bank numbers are in to the billions?

On my forms I have dynamic sections based upon passed id's and there are dynamics sets of possible values based on the type of form, little regularity. I've checked out the normalization, and much of it comes down to whether it's a col array or a many to many (don't want the many to many -- its a single page Insert with no pre-existing table rows).
