Its an online wordsearch puzzle generator. And you'll be able to play them online too..

nah it's random look at the words:

not geeky at all

Yes. You supply a list of words and it generates the wordsearch automagically. I'm considering hooking into Google Sets* too. Maybe. I'll probably get bored and move on to the next idea before that ever happens though.

I've seen this done before ... some sort of coding contest. I downloaded it for some site I was working on. Kinda cool.

FWIW, I think your .gif is prettier than the output it gave. But it was a pretty neat script, IIRC.

fyi onion, i couldn't see the image. so i used firefox developer extension to 'show image dimensions', and it is displaying as 10x1 pixel... hmmm

but that is a great idea. When playing, how would you select where you thought the word was?

I remember reading in the php man that when you click on an image you get $imagex and $imagey variables, guess you could use this to work out which character the user clicked.

inspired stuff mate.

ps. when are we going to get more nature photos on your website?

Theres a whole lot more work still to be done, but it does at least work. Click on the letter at the start (or end) of a word and it'll be highlighted by a green circle, click on the letter at the other end of the word and you'll get a red marker and it'll be crossed off the word list.

I'm completely rebuilding my site at the moment. There'll be some new photos on the new version. Should be online in a few weeks.

Yeah. It is a bit difficult at the moment. My next tasks are to make the size and difficulty configurable, and do some weighted letter distribution instead of all letters being equally likely to appear.
