I had a disaster with my server on my machine for testing a few sites in PHP. I decided to reinstall everything, php, MySQL and Apache2. I worked everything out and then decided (for some unknown reason) to reinstall Apache2. I deleted most files from Apache and went into regedit to see if there where any keys in there. Now when I try to install from apache_2.0.57-win32-x86-no_ssl.msi it stops installation and tells me that there is already a version on the computer and to use install/remove from control panel. This has been driving me insane. Does anyone know of a removal programme to completely get rid of Apache.

Why, pray tell, did you try to get rid of Apache by just deleting some of the files under C:\Programme? Is that the way you normally remove software?

Is the Apache icon still available under Control panel/Software? If so, carry out the remove routine as intended. If not, do a search for any files with the letters 'httpd' and get rid of them.

If that still doesn't work, do you perhaps have a restore point prior to the moment you decided to manually delete the Apache files? If so, restore to that point and then remove Apache using the Control Panel.

I'm not on my own computer here and don't have Apache, so I can't tell you which keys to remove under regedit.

Thanks for the words of wisdom Norm..............I have managed to get rid of it all now thanks. I dont normally just delete files and did use the remove/install facility but it just kept saying it was on the system. Ended up deleting about 40 files using regedit..............a long way round the block but did the trick.
