copy remote image to different server

Hello everybody, I have been trying to find a way to fetch a remote image, ie copy an image from one server to another server (mine). Does anybody know how to do this? I tried several things with fopen/fwrite/fclose and such but I can't seem to make it work.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

For copying stuff to other servers, you will surely need FTP.

The thing is I don't know the FTP details of the other remote server... I need to find a way to download an image from a site I don't know the FTP details of and upload it to my site (where of course I know the ftp info).

I've never tried this before, but I'd look into php's copy() function -- I think the source can be a URL (i'm assuming the image you want to copy is web accessible) as long as the fopen wrappers are enabled.

I'll look into it. I thought the source cannot be an URL but if you say otherwise I'll gladly double-check.
Yes the image is web-accessible.
I looked at my phpinfo file and I see:
allow_url_fopen On On
is this what you are talking about?
I don't see any mention of wrappers.

You are right, the manual says:

Note: As of PHP 4.3.0, both source and dest may be URLs if the "fopen wrappers" have been enabled. See fopen() for more details. If dest is a URL, the copy operation may fail if the wrapper does not support overwriting of existing files.

I guess last time I had checked it was still in pre-4.3.0 era because I distinctively remember having tried this...

I will immediately get to work and see if I manage to make it work.
