Comcast to raise rates 6% in January

You may have noticed (or you may not care) that I changed my sig...
I am sick of Comcast (among other cable companies) who feel that they can raise rates AGAIN. It seems that every 6 months or so they announce a rate hike for some reason or other.

So I switched to Dish Network, seems good so far, though I havent had a bad storm yet, it does fine in high winds.

But for half of what I was paying for cable, I get all my programming that I had, plus some more sports chans (that I only use for football)

If anyone else has Dish, please let me know what to look for, and if anyone else is sick of Comcast (or their local cable company) feel free to go here and let the cable company know where to stick it!

4 years ago I was paying $60 a month for basic cable with cable modem, come january first, it will be $132 with the 6% increase. Thats highway robery

i just signed up for comcast and with digital cable and internet i am paying around $90 in southern california. i have not got the first bill yet though so it might be worse.

but did you sign under a specific plan.. special prices for 4 months or so?

All i can say is ouch... I have cable here and I pay $40-45 or so thats AUD (Australian Dolllar), and the prices seem to be falling well they did a few months back.

that is normal price. the special i got was all the HBO channels for $4/month for 6 months.

It's worse in the UK...

£25/month ($50) for 750k cable 🙁 That's just for internet, telephone and TV is extra.

Next year one ADSL company is opening an 8mb service for £40 which sounds pretty decent 🙂

my office is out in the sticks, so we use satellite broadband from aramiska. Not bad, except when the weather deteriorates.

oh and as aramiska is based in belgium, we always get redirected to www.google.be and other belgium-locality websites.

at home i use ntl, which is about £25 per month for a 600k line. As shrike says, tv and phone is extra but i don't watch much tv and always use my mobile so no need for that
