using php to start an Exe

Hey,

Ive never done any php in my life, so im just asking for some Cut and paste code here.

Im making a online game, My webhost has agreed that if i can find a way to start the Server exe from my computer using a script of somesort i can do it.

I asked around and was told that php can do it.. I have Dreamweaver 2004 mx to do it with.

All i need is a simple page which i can open up, press a button or a link and it will run the server..

I was told Openexec("Url for server") would work but i couldnt figure it out...

any help 😕

Okay, I post again.. I set up a basic page to do this..And then i go there and it just loads and loads and loads.. Its been loading for about 10mins..Ill leave it going to see what happens..

If anyone has some spare time this is my code

Both this File, And the server file which is called "Server.exe" are in the same folder..??

Maybe you should call it out as server.exe since you can't run functions that aren't "built in" by calling them out by thier short tags.

That might not make sense. Just try

exec("server.exe");

I am presuming your web server/game server is unix if not you will be running into the same problem I am having. The user that controls the webpage doesn't have permission to start the service.

No i have permission..

All i need was the .exe at the end

okay..something else.

It does start the server bit the server isnt in the task bar or anything.. you can only see it when you press ctrl+alt+del in the running proceses..

Which isnt good cause the host needs to be able to do things on the server.exe..

any idea?

If this is a service that can be started from the services command under admin tools then the Admin must go double click it and allow it to interact with desktop.
