Register Globals / Post Security

Hello,

I have a simple question in relation to web security. I know that using post / global variables are meant to be insecure. How or what ways can I use to try and overcome the use of register globals without having to sacrifice functionality?

other than being able to use $var instead of $_POST['var'] what functionality are you talking about?
