Parsing a .CSV file generated by Outlook

im trying to create something where a user could upload a csv file that has been exported from outlook and have it generate a userlist based on the data

can someone point me in the right direction for this?

i know how to parse csvs with php, but i have no clue how to sort through all the mess that outlook generates.

right now im thinking the easiest route would be to find email address based on the @ and .com and all that...but i would have liked the persons name as well.

although I could generate the user name based on the email.

anyway. any help on this is much appreciated. not sure where to begin.

Have you tried creating a CSV file and looking for the position of the first and last names? If its a CSV file, it should be in a fixed delimited position (if that makes sense). Its just a simple matter of figuring out which column the data is in and telling PHP to use it.

Edit: although if the user can change the export order or the items to be exported, then yeah, that will throw a wrench in things.

ive got it grabbing first names, last names and emails now.

it will work great until the positions change..like you said.

guess there isn't much i can do to change that really.
