If you actually mean a CMS then I might be interested. But if you mean a content editor, then its been done a billion times already.

    So..

What do you have in mind when you say "CMS"?

And what version of PHP do you plan on using?

50Cent, just for future reference, posts like this should be posted in our New Projects thread which is stickied at the top of the EL.

        Thanks!

          1. Content Managment System
            2.php 4+
3.sorry about that but no one enters that topic!

          more commnets plz.

If it was php5 then I might be willing to help. And at least mysql 4.1 or some other modern database.

As onion2k says, there are already many CMS systems out there. But writing one from stratch designed to take advantage of the latest software has some attraction.

I know what CMS stands for, but what do you actually plan on making? Will it be a bunch of forms for editing the content on a website? Or will it be a proper workflow system with access management, asset management, etc? There are many scripts out there that call themselves "CMS"s, but the reality of it is that they don't actually have any management capability whatsoever.

it will use the stuff of 2005 like php5 and mysql 4.1
it will be with a lot of things that a webmaster needs to manage his site properly!
i saw alot of cms but non of them had the options that a webmaser needs at least i tought like this!
so it will be a really good powerfull cms with an admin control panel, access management, asset management, user contorl panel, polls, ratings, user levels, calender, content, news, articals, user groups, forums included, posts, topics, blogs, plugins, templates, languages and much much more.
it will be areally good cms if there would be developers that are willing to help!
in additionl we will make an official site of the cms and will publish updates and other stuff.

How much time do you intend to spend on it yourself? How much time will you be asking of people?

i am willing to spend as much time as it takes to built it!
and i am trying my best to ask people to join!

Its just that the list of features you have there would take most coders a few years to write properly.. is any of the system planned yet?

however the base of the system is written it just needs extra coding to make it much better!
as i said news system is down includeing the admin area, soutbox is done witout the admin area, interface is done, and some other stuff!
now we need to make it better with harded options!
                        like users,user levels! and more!

come on people post some commnets and suggestions!

Well, if I were planning a new CMS from scratch I'd probably not start out by deciding what modules would be in it at all. Ideally a CMS should be a framework in which user created modules sit. Any user access control should be dealt with by a central management system. Essentially I'd write a series of functions/objects that would make binding together different parts of a site as easy as possible. That way, if someone wants create a news system for example, they can write it using these functions for anything that requires the news to link to any other part of the site, and for priviledge management, etc. I would also create a generic system for managing data in the back end of the site that could cope with pretty much any database schema thrown at it. And finally I'd try to come up with some tools that would allow multiple users to work on data without getting in each others way.

                              thats souldnt be aproblem!
it can be included too to the system func it only takes time, paitent, and php coding!
it can be done with alot of other things that will be included in the system!

if any body is interested plz post your comment here!
