Can you control how pages print in PHP?

I'm having this problem.. basically I have a listing similar to a forum (stacked entries) but I need to only have three entries printed per page - and not bleed onto the next page. Is there anyway to control how it is printed? The only thing I can think of right now is to make it so you only see three entries at a time.. print those.. and then go to the next three entries..

I have the solution, using web technology like CSS you can format objects to print out on pages.

You what three to a page, why not, only little entries, white space.

CSS is the key here, the best place to go is to A List Apart where that have CSS a plenty, including this article on the delights of printing web pages.

Have a read and learn.

Web development isn't just about php, it's about php html and css.

If you use CSS to layout the page, you can force complient browsers to print it on seperate pages. I've not accually done anything with page breaks and the such, but I'll try and help you.

Well, since this won't be used by a lot of people, we don't have to worry about the browser issue. I'm curious, where is the article about forcing browsers to print only certian things or on different pages? I don't mind reading it and learning, I just didn't see it.

Well, it dawned on me last night. It's not the best solution.. but using a fixed height table.. seems to work..

In case anyone is interested, I had to create something similar. You might have to tweek your printer margins to get this to work correctly. This example is divided up into two columns.

I think CSS supports paged media; whether the client's browser supports it is a different matter - but the same can be said about everything else about the document's layout (text sizes, fonts and so forth - which can all be altered by the user to suit their preferences).
