[Resolved] MySQL + MSSQL + Win2000

Hi all,

I'm looking for information regarding the installation of MySQL (& php) on a win 2000 sp3 server that already has MSSQL 7.0 (or 2000...not sure).

My question is:
1 Can MySQL & MSSQL run safely on the same win 2000 server? Will there be port issues, etc.?

Can anyone point me to documentation on such an installation? I've searched the MySQL website but couldn't find info on concurrent installs.

P.S. Yes there is a business need to run both db types. Just wondering if they can be installed on the same server.

Shouldn't be any problems running them together. I haven't tried that particular combination, but I've never had problems with other combinations of databases on the same machine (MySQL and Postgres, MSSQL and Informix, MSSQL 7.0 and MDSE 2000, etc)

Do you know if the "default" configurations (such as ports) will work...or will there need to be some custom install procedures?

I'd just go ahead and install them. Worse case is you'll have to uninstall one.

The only thing I'd worry about is not having enough memory. MSSQL will use as much as it can get.

I just found, FYI (for anyone), that port usage is as follows:

MySQL-cluster 1186
MySQL instance manager 2273
MySQL 3306

Microsoft SQL server 1433
Microsoft SQL monitor 1434
Sybase SQL any 1498

So if installed as default port, no conflict.
