[Resolved] not showing expired items

Hello,

Im working on a classified listing section, and im having trouble not showing the rows where the date is past the expired date.

Ive tried many different ways and none work.

Im using a TIMESTAMP for the added date, and a TIMESTAMP for expired (if thats right). With the expired date being put in by myself.

Ive tryed putting in the SQL

WHERE date_expires <= '$date_today'

with $date_today being set like date(Ymd)

but it doesnt work. and i have no idea how to do it!

Any help would be great!

You can use mysql's own date functions for that. Theres NOW(), CURDATE() and others to use. Is your timestamp datetime or timestamp(for sure?). Maybe its unix timestamp?

Try with these:

WHERE date_expires <= UNIX_TIMESTAMP()

// or

WHERE date_expires <= NOW()

I know that its NOT a UNIX TIMESTAMP. But it is a TIMESTAMP.

Ill give that a try and see if it workd though.

If it is a timestamp column than it should be a 14 digit number yyyymmddhhmmss

So try something like:

date('YmdHis')

Besided that, if you want to display all records that are not expired you might need to change the WHERE clause to

WHERE date_expires >= '$date_today'
or
WHERE date_expires > '$date_today'

With the WHERE clause you posted you're selecting all records that expired in the past.
