Dealing with Date Stamp in the future

I have a site where I use the UNIX date/timestamp for the day the member signed up. If the member signed up for, lets say, a 60 day period, I need to put a UNIX Datestamp in my datebase so everyday a check can be done to see if his/her membership is still valid. I have looked through a few books and doesnt show me how to deal with future dates. Can anyone help.
