update nightmare

i am having an absolute horror trying to update details into a blog table I've created.

can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong here...

$sqlUpdateString = "UPDATE blog SET blogDate ='$u_blogDate', blogMonthYear='$u_blogMonthYear', blogContent='$u_blogContent', blogPermalink='$u_blogPermalink', blogActive='$u_blogActive' WHERE blogId =".$u_blogId." LIMIT 1" ;

what error is your database spitting back?

there is no error as such it just doesn't seem to work.

Echo the SQL out on the update page, copy and paste it into phpmyadmin (or whatever database admin tool you use). That should give you a clue why its not working.

turns out the blogContent had some apostrophe's in it.

whats a good method for handling them in a content field.
