Ok guys, I am having problems with my current host right now. The service is just excellent BUT the measures they take with PHP and MySQL are just getting in my way, even though it is done for my security.

SAFE MODE is on! Most of my CMS works but the file management parts sometimes do not!

MySQL is old! And it can't do full-text boolean searches so that holds me back too as the search script I have is important for my site.

I am looking for recommendations for a host but please, I don't want to burn a whole through my wallet.

I ask at this forum because we all are PHP programmers and you guys probably know good hosts!

I'll need at least 300MB space, and 10-15GB transfer and of course PHP and at least 1 mysql database. 24/7 support is a must! Phone support wanted too.

Anyways, please help me out.

Why dont you search, or go over to webhostingtalk.com they have people who own hosting companies which may get you something. There are lots of good hosts out there, theres just a lot more crappier ones at out there.

If you want the host Im with has something similar to what you want not sure about Phone Support but they are very good and only had one bad scuffle.

I recently switched to clook.net .. they're very good indeed.

i'm with clook too, and i really have never known service quite like it. They're exceptionally good, and the technology is ahead too

asmallorange.com is US based however doesnt have phone support. Other than that its quite a good host however they arent taking orders due to re-organisation.

clook.net servers are in the US, unless you specifically choose UK servers. Billing is in your local currency, and from personal experience, support is just as good in the middle of the night as it is in the daytime, so time differences won't matter.
