Expanding a Stuffit file

I'm currently writing a file management console tool, with one of the tasks being to expand any uploaded .zip and .sit files and process all the archived files as individually uploaded files are. There seems to be a couple Zip utilities in PHP that I can use to handle expanding a zip archive. However, my problem is with the Stuffit files. I am having a very difficult time finding any information on how to handle this.

Has anybody ever dealt with handling, specifically, expanding a stuffit file using PHP, or have any idea how to implement this? Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you've got a utility for uncompressing .sit files that has a command-line interface, you can use one of PHP's system call functions to run the utility.

And please don't cross-post.
