HTTP authentication by external parser

There is one script (ex auth.php) . I used that file as external parser program for HTTP authentication on proxy (SafeSquid Proxy) which is running from LINUX.

Now for windows package for SafeSquid Proxy , can i use that same script to read the headers send by Realm.??

I have to do HTTP basic authentication on windows.

should i use PHP header() function for it?
means to raise the realm pop up for authentication.
