String Manipulation Problem

Hello All,

I've got a little string prob here....

My client has the data organized in subfolders numbered 00-99. The image file name is like this: lr1000183773-1.jpg.

Images are stored in the subfolder that matches the last two digits before the "-". So in this case, the path would be .../73/lr1000183773-1.jpg.

How can I extract JUST the two digits from the filename to create the path?

Any help is greatly appreciated in advance!

if the filenames are all the same number of characters then you could do:

$file = 'lr1000183773-1.jpg';
echo substr($file, 10, 2); // outputs 73

if the filename lengths are not all the same:

$file = 'lr1000183773-1.jpg';
$explode = explode('-', $file);
echo substr($explode[0], -2); // outputs 73
