Alphabet

Alright, here's what I'm trying to do.

You go to a php page, click on a link that is the alphabet such as "A-B", "C-D", E-F", and so on. Then that link will send a query to the database. If I click on "A-B", I need it to return any last name that starts with A or B.

If anyone can help me with this, I'd really appreciate it, I thought it would have been easy but I can't get it to work correctly.

I havent done this with multiple characters for a search like so but usually its

SELECT * FROM mytable WHERE field LIKE 'a%'

So this may work for you

SELECT * FROM mytable WHERE field LIKE 'a%' OR field LIKE 'b%'

Test that to make sure it works of course chaning the query slightly to work with the table.
