Table always shrinks my set columbs

How can I tell the table to keep the size of certain columbs no matter what?

The middle columb can expand but the 2 outsides cannot shrink. The Table needs to expand instead.

Because your center cell has a retaining width (400).
don't set any width to the center cell or set the table to 100%

Nope. That did not do it. I have a table with images in 4 columbs in the center. Instead of widening the table, it pushes on the other columbs.

No matter what I do, the table is fitting itself to the screen instead of keeping it's size. When a users screen is too small, scrollbars should show just like this forum does.

set the table width in pixels instead of %

100% means 100% of the available width, which is prob in your case, the width of the viewport. setting it in pixels will make it whatever you specify.

well your code doesnt work, yet you dont want to change it? have you bothered to try it?

if your having problems w/ the outer cells shrinking, either:
a- use img tags instead of background images
b-put a div inside each outer cell, and set thier width.

You mean instead of using a table? Is that what this page does?
You're right, I misinterpreted where you were coming from. You were referring to what was suggested earlier, not my code. I'm sorry. Setting the table to an absolute width works. Thanks alot.
