it depened if all the columns there are going to be pulled

but if u just want to pull some of the column better assign the column in your query.

If there is any difference it's probably so tiny you'll never see it (unless as osusano says, you're not using all of the columns after you fetch them).

The time to find the row in the database and move the data across the network is many, many, many times greater than the difference between * and listing the columns.
