Advice on a new project... Need expertise.

Hello,
I'm a designer.. I don't pretend to be a coder, so building databases escapes me at this point.. However, I have a project on my plate that is needing to be completed ASAP! I need a database and accompanying site built similar to that of http://www.swapstyle.com ... but with some tweaking... I need some opinions from you fine PHP's out there..

A) how hard will it be to accomplish something of this nature??

😎 time/ money considerations??

C) are there any shortcuts I can take.. any forms or templates that I could buy??

If you're gonna build a database driven site (and this one will have to be) you'll need to spend some time on relational theory.

First, look for a good beginners into to SQL, like this one:

Then read up on relational theory, like this one:

Looking at the site I dont think you even need a database seems they cannot find /usr/bin/php then went again they had mysql_connect problems

1) If you do not know what you are doing it will be quite hard Id suppose but with seeing lots of errors on that site how hard I cannot say for sure.

2) Cannot answer that as I cannot see the site for sure

3) Shortcuts usually lead to mistakes in the long run, just take a look at Windows for example they took many shortcuts in the production of 2000 and XP and seem to have quite the amount of bugs.

I dont think you can really take shortcuts when it comes to programming of course you can have libraries of classes which can help cut time down but you still need to do a bit of grunt work as well.
