preg_match problem?

I made an if statement like this

if (preg_match('/^[a-z0-9.]+$/i', $pass))

but its only allowing numbers and characters and in addition to this i want to add [ and ] characters to this statement how can i add this two characters into preg_match?

You can escape square brackets as follows

if (preg_match('/^[\\[\\]a-z0-9.]+$/i', $pass))
