Php image tag

I am new to the use of php, and am setting up a server with mysql, php 5 and apache 2 on a Windows XP environment.

When the <img src=".."> tag is inserted on a php page the php server/engine seem to remove it. Meaning on the page showing the images does not appear at all. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

have you looked at the source HTML of your pages? do a simple test. add this single line to a blank file (use a valid image path for "whatever"):

<img src="whatever.gif">

save as test.php
upload to your server
open in your browser
check souce
what do you see?

Hi,
Thanks for the tip, i have tried this and the file generated when i view source is empty. It is really strange all other html tags i have tried comes out fine.

someone on another board had the same problems. it could be your firewall or some other software stripping the img tags out.

Thank you for that... it turns out that the Norton internet security profesional and anti virus strips the pictures of from the generated pages.....

Good old Norton's. I've stopped using it after it let us get infected with a virus that, when tracked down, turned out to be in their virus list since Oct 2002.
