Sage Line 50 integration.

Does anybody here have any experience with integrating e-commerce stores (written in PHP) with Sage Line 50 or other Sage software?

A prospective client wants their e-commerce website integrating with Sage so that new orders are downloaded automatically etc. but I don't even know if its possible.

The Sage website is no help, nor are their support guys (I'm not paying for a SageCover package just to find out whether I can do it or not!)

I'm assuming/hoping that it will involve getting XML data to Sage somehow.

If anyone has any information at all that they can provide, I would greatly appreciate it.

Sage provide a .NET assembly for communicating and working with Sage files.

They call it SDO (Sage Data Objects).

You can use all the major .NET languages to do this with.

I wouldn't recommend C# as it has problems with their library. They provide all of their examples in Visual Basic.NET so use this.

You will need to register as a Sage Developer to get hold of the assembly and the documentation to go with it.

Can you use .NET from within PHP4?

Also, would I be right in assuming that I have to pay quite a large sum of money to register as a Sage developer?

Well PHP has the capability of working with .NET assemblys but I've never tried it myself. Perhaps php5 supports it?

I'm not sure how much it costs to be a Sage Developer but I'd imagine it will be a few hundred pounds.
