What programs can do it for me?

I'm not a programmer by any means, i can understand the functions and can read a script but the syntax just screws me up when i try to write it on my own, editing existing code and understanding it is a breeze.

So i've downloaded a few apps to create the php pages for me but they're not perfect and there are hundreds on hotscripts that i just don't have time to play with... So i'll ask some experts!

I tried: PHPmagic and dbQwikSite3

dbQwikSite looks promising but i couldn't find a connection option for MySQL.. is "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server" a compatible option..

Does anyone know of any other apps they swear by to generate PHP pages?
I'm alright on the table editing side of things, dont need that to be automated. I just need good search and display pages generated with moderate security. I plan on using .htaccess to password protect the administration php pages (delete entrys etc..) Sound like a good plan?

I'm trying to get a self maintained membership database started for the membership listing in my car club, NorCalCRX.org

Thanks for any help, hopefully this will be the community that gets me into PHP =) I really need some tutors not some books, i learn by Q&A / trial and error best. 😉

sounds like you want a cms(content management system)

or maybe even just a highly featured blog.

sorry i cant recomend any, i dont use those things.

google for "php cms" should give you tons of options.

Not really, i certainly don't want php_nuke or anything of the sort. I am "building" an app; not entering information. All those other CMS's offer much more than i want which creates excess and i don't want excess, i want a simple 8 fields of data on each person that they can enter themselves that will display on a single PHP page. Nothing major...

I would like to create this with a mysql/php generator. Someone else must be familiar with php code generators since if there is one in existence that was made correctly, they're incredible time savers for the even the experienced php writers.

And yes i can google this software, and yes i get about a dozen paid listings and another 100 in the search but what i really want to know is, WHAT WORKS? =) because i've gone through 5 of those listed now and none of them get the job done. I know someone has tried a generator before... it does save time for real coders.. its not a CMS that true php builders won't touch with a 10 foot pole. These are useful apps.

I was just searching the forums for any information on phpMagic. I have been looking over information about it and comparing their products. They (WebsiteDatabses) do have a program called My Contact Table. The purpose, it seems, of My Contact Table, is to create a database and php coding for the purpose of a membership area or similar related functions.

I have not bought the software, therefore, I cannot say first hand of it's effectiveness. Just thought, though, that I'd let you know about that program.
